On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Cocoa City Council unanimously approved a $1,000 donation request from Cocoa Youth Athletics for their "Building a Tiger; One Touchdown at a Time!" program. The donation will help provide scholarships to 25-50 under privileged youth in the program and provide new equipment and uniforms.
The program, which serves 200-300 participants in the local community, provides youth an opportunity to learn the skills of football and cheer, to reconnect with youth in this pandemic environment, provides children with an outlet for physical activity, and promotes teamwork and good sportsmanship. The program also works to meet the needs of not only the youth but also the needs of their community, as they volunteer with churches, host parties for senior citizens and by promoting service over self.
