The City of Cocoa will be hosting an Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 4-7pm at Cocoa City Hall. This event will feature vendors, food, demonstrations, free tree giveaways, and more.
As part of the annual Tree City USA designation, the City of Cocoa hosts an event to help educate our residents about the value trees play in our community. The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees. More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA. (Information provided from the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA webpage.)
During the Arbor Day celebration, Keep Brevard Beautiful will be hosting two demonstrations on Invasive Tree Identification and How to Build a Birdhouse from Recycled Materials. The UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension will be hosting demonstrations on How to Garden with Nature, a Pruning Demonstration, and Keystone Species.
Vendors such as Change of Greenery and Wild Wet N Wacky Plants will be on hand as well as a food truck and the City of Cocoa’s Public Works Department who will be handing out free trees while supplies last. The City of Cocoa will also be recognizing the winners of the Tree Photo Contest that is happening now through August 15th (https://www.cocoafl.org/treecityusa).
