The Cocoa Fire Department is better equipped to keep all community members safe thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The $33,180 grant was used to purchase Hurst Extrication Equipment, fulfilling a critical need within the department.
“This extrication equipment provided by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant is a vital piece of equipment used to rescue those victims trapped during an emergency. This new equipment is much lighter and more mobile which allows our crews to be able to use it in a variety of different situations. When seconds count, the ability to have reliable equipment is paramount in what we do. With the assistance of the grant our crews will be able to operate safer and more efficiently at emergency calls. Thank you, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for supporting first Responders and the Cocoa community,” said Cocoa Fire Chief, Jonathan Lamm.
“We are committed to helping organizations such as the Cocoa Fire Department continue their lifesaving work within local communities. We are honored to be able to award this grant and do our part to ensure that the City of Cocoa is safer for everyone, including first responders,” said Robin Peters, executive director, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The grant was one of 102 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded to public safety organizations across the country during the most recent grant application period. The 102 grants total more than $2.1 million.
