Diamond Square partner agency, Alliance for Neighborhood Restoration (ANR) was selected by a panel of judges to receive the Health First Supernova Award during the 2018 Stars of the Space Coast Awards ceremony hosted by 2-1-1 Brevard on November 30, 2018. Started in 2015, the awards ceremony is held annually to honor the stellar work of nonprofits along the Space Coast. Honorees receive cash awards and other recognition at the luncheon event. Proceeds from the event benefit the 2-1-1 Brevard 24-hour helpline and other initiatives to help people in our community.
Nominees are submitted to 2-1-1 Brevard for consideration. The Supernova Award is given to a local non-profit agency or organization that shows innovation to meet critical and changing needs in the community. Special consideration is given to those organizations that have magnified their impact to the community over the past two years. Letters of support are also required.
Established in 2001 to sustain the Brevard County Weed and Seed Initiative, Alliance for Neighborhood Restoration is a Florida not-for-profit corporation, based in Cocoa, that is an integral part of an inclusive, collaborative partnership based upon resident-identified needs. This partnership provides leadership, resources, training and opportunities empowering all partners to contribute to the restoration of healthy, safe neighborhoods throughout Brevard County. ANR identifies and coordinates programs to fill gaps in services to designated Weed and Seed neighborhoods. Some of these services include computer labs, after-school tutorial programs, visual and performing arts programs, family literacy, employability skills training, and crime and drug prevention classes.
