Statement regarding recent article on cancer cluster in South Patrick area

We want to reassure all of our Utility customers that the City of Cocoa is committed to providing clean, fresh drinking water that is safe for all of our customers.  Although we do provide the drinking water to Patrick Air Force Base, the water from the City of Cocoa is a mixture of ground water supplied from the Floridian Aquifer and surface water from the Taylor Creek Reservoir that is treated at the Dyal Water Treatment Plant and then delivered to our customers.  The ground water surrounding PAFB is not used in our drinking water supply.  The City of Cocoa takes water safety very seriously and continually tests and monitors our water per the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  You can visit our website, www.CocoaWaterWorks.com to learn where the City of Cocoa’s water comes from, how it is treated, and how it is delivered to our customers on a daily basis.  You can also visit www.CocoaFL.org/waterqualityreport to view the latest Water Quality Report available.
