Note to residential customers from Waste Management about wood debris

In the aftermath of October 2016’s Hurricane Matthew, Waste Management began providing residential curbside wood collection as a courtesy to all of our residential customers. Waste Management has continued to provide this service in the aftermath of September 2017’s Hurricane Irma.

The subsequent residential reconstruction from these hurricanes has exacerbated the number of wood collection requests to the point where it could impact contractual services. The assets used to collect wood are intended to collect yard waste and bulky solid waste; and these resources need to be used for this purpose.

  • Waste Management will accept residential calls for courtesy curbside wood collection until close of business on Friday, March 30, 2018 (residents must call for service).
  • All wood collection tickets that have been scheduled as of March 30 will be honored, and we will continue to collect wood on Wednesdays in the south County and with bulky waste in the north County until such time that all of these tickets have been closed.
  • Residents who request wood collection after March 30 will be offered several options: 1) Residents can take the wood to the Cocoa landfill themselves for disposal at no charge; 2) WM Bagster service; 3) Roll off service; or 4) WM can schedule curbside collection upon request for an additional charge.

To contact Waste Management to get your collection done before the March 30th deadline or to have your collection done after March 30th, please contact (321) 636-6894 or visit
