The City of Cocoa announces the reopening of Lee Wenner Park in Cocoa Village Friday, February 2, 2018 after months of being closed for damage repairs caused by Hurricane Irma. This includes the boat ramps and parking.
Hurricane Irma’s historically destructive winds and flooding rains caused over $1.7 million in damages to the park, docks, and surrounding boardwalk area in Riverfront Park. Over the past 3 months the City has been busy clearing out debris and returning the park to a safe operating condition.
In November 2017, the City of Cocoa executed an agreement with Brevard County to obtain full ownership of the park. The rebuilding of the waterfront amenities is underway with a planning process involving public stakeholders and the plan is anticipated to be complete in April 2018.
