Councilman Clarence Whipple, Jr. - District 1
I am a product of Cocoa and have lived in Cocoa’s District 1 for the past 65 years. I have been married to my beautiful wife Sally for 48 years and counting. We have two daughters and a host of grand and great grandchildren. We love the City of Cocoa.
I am a graduate of Monroe High School and attended Brevard Community College. I later worked in management at Wuesthoff Health Systems for 35 years as Director of Communications /Security/Medical Record Retention/ Fleet and Transportation Services. I am currently retired.
I am a member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E.C, the Osiris Shrine Temple #67, a “Past Master” of the Cocoa Masonic Lodge 55, 32nd Degree Past Commander and Chief of Wilbur Fernander Consistory #351.
In November, 2006 I was elected to Cocoa City Council as District 1 representative. After serving a four year term, I ran unopposed for a second four year term in 2010. During my tenure, I was honored by my fellow Council members to serve as Deputy Mayor in 2009 & 2014. On December 13, 2016, I was appointed to fulfill the vacancy for the District 1 Seat through November, 2018. Over the years of my service many positive improvements for the City were accomplished, which aligned with my campaign platform, while in office for two four year terms.
Prior to becoming an elected official I gained municipal experience by serving as a volunteer on various boards and committees. I am proud to give back to a community which has given me so much over the years. I believe it is very important to have a City united where all residents feel that they are stakeholders. As a Councilman, I am committed to make informed decisions on behalf of our citizens to move the City forward in positive ways.
