Community Watch Meetings Connect Neighbors

In January and February the Community Resource Unit visited four different neighborhoods reaching out to residents with information about what is happening in their neighborhoods.  Broadmoor Acres, Pineridge, Cocoa Modern Manor and Clear Pond Estates.  With each meeting the Community Resource Unit officer presents targeted data to include types of police activity occurring withing the confines of each community.  For example, in Broadmoor Acres between October 1, 2016 and January 24, 2017 the total number of reports was 130.  These included 15 batteries, 14 residential burglaries, 12 theft reports and 9 domestic disturbances among other types of activity.  Of the total incidents in this neighborhood during the time period, 23% (30) were officer initiated.  Residents are provided with the statistical data and are given opportunities to ask questions or discuss any concerns they have. We'll even bring FREE snow cones and popcorn! The Cocoa Police Department is committed to this type of one-on-one community activity and will make every effort to set up a meeting in your neighborhood if you would like to have one.  Contact the Community Resource Unit, Officer Chris Hattaway at 321-863-9474 or email at
