RETIREE HEALTH BENEFITS
Health Insurance Premium Benefits Eligibility (HIPB)
If you were hired between February 11, 1986 and January 14, 1992 you will meet the requirements for the 100% HIPB and may continue medical, dental, or vision coverage as a retiree.

If you were hired after January 14, 1992 you will meet the requirements for the 50% HIPB and may continue medical, dental, or vision coverage as a retiree, upon normal disability retirement, you reach the age of 65, or otherwise becomes eligible for Medicare; whichever comes first.

What is the HIPB 100% and 50% coverage?

In accordance with the City's Resolution 2009-150, depending on the above mentioned hire dates, the City will provide either 100% or 50% of the cost of the premium coverage for the retiree only. Coverage for dependent/spouse will be paid by retiree. Retirees categorized as HIPB 50% will receive this benefit upon reaching Medicare eligibility; thereafter, retiree will be eligible to continue participation on the City's Group Health Insurance at retiree's cost.
