Community Relations Programs: 

Apparatus Demos 

  • Experience personal interaction with Cocoa Firefighters and a look at the fire vehicle.

Fire Drills 

  • Schedule a drill that has a City of Cocoa engine lined up to observe and offer advice in the safe evacuation of a business.

Fire Safety Presentation 

  • Children:
    • Presentations vary according to the ages and group dynamics.
  • School:
    • Firefighters give fire safety presentations to elementary school-aged children in two parts:
      • The first half of class, firefighters, equipped with their gear, teach key fire safety lessons and emphasize that firefighters are their friends.
      • The second half consists of an engine demonstration.
      • Groups are preferred (25 children or less).
  • Adults:
    • Offered to home owner associations, civic organizations, etc.
      • 45 – 60 minute presentation on topics:
        • Home hazards
        • Importance of smoke alarms/maintenance
        • Exit drills in the home
        • Fire safety tips

Station Tours 

  • Take a tour of a Cocoa firefighters’ “Home away from home”.

Summer Chill 

30-60 minute water program offered to schools and day cares.

  • Engine or tower flows water for children to play in.
