New Cocoa Citizens Academy Session Runs Through May

Citizens Academy photos at various city locations

The City of Cocoa began another session of their Citizens Academy. This program offers residents and business owners the opportunity to learn all about their local government and get behind the scenes tours of city facilities.

So far, academy members have been through seven classes including tours of the Water Treatment Plant, Sewer Treatment Plant, Public Works Facility, and Fire Department. Members also learned about our Community Services Department and how they can get more involved with their local government through volunteer opportunities.

Upcoming classes will demonstrate emergency operations procedures, visit the Police Department and review the Financial Operations of the City. This session runs through May and concludes with a graduation ceremony at the May 11th Cocoa City Council meeting. For more information on the program and how you can participate in future sessions, visit the Citizens Academy website.
