The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for follow up investigations of specific assigned cases. These cases are usually the more serious incidents reported to the police department such as:

• Homicides
• Robberies
• Serious sexual assaults
• Serious physical assaults
• Child abuse and neglect cases
• Any other felony cases that demand unique investigative knowledge, time, and may require travel outside the local area

There are currently six detectives, one sergeant, and one lieutenant assigned to the unit.The detectives are responsible for completing criminal investigations and preparing them for prosecution.Often times, detectives spend considerable amounts of time working with the prosecuting attorney preparing the cases for trial and then testifying in the trial.
