Clarence Whipple, Jr. has been unanimously appointed as the District 1 representative on the Cocoa City Council. The District 1 seat was vacated by Michael Blake effective November 1, 2016 when he ran for State Representative of District 51 in the recent elections.
Councilman Whipple, Jr. served on the Cocoa City Council before when he was elected in 2006 serving his first four year term and then ran unopposed in his second four year term in 2010. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2009 and 2014.
Whipple, Jr. is a product of Cocoa and has lived in Cocoa’s District 1 for the past 65 years. He is a graduate of Monroe High School and attended Brevard Community College.
Prior to becoming an elected official, Mr. Whipple gained municipal experience by serving as a volunteer on various boards and committees. As Councilman, he has committed to make informed decisions on behalf of the residents of Cocoa and to move the City forward in positive ways.
Whipple, Jr. was selected by the rest of the Council members to serve in the vacated seat through November 2018.
