On Monday, March 13, crews will be paving Florida Avenue from Factory Street to Stone Street. The road will be closed during this time to allow the pavers to complete the paving and for painting of the crosswalks and center line to occur. Please observe the detours and flaggers who will direct traffic around the paving operation. Paving will take approximately 2-3 hours and the road will be completely open for vehicular traffic upon completion. Beginning on Tuesday, March 14, crews will begin the road demolition of Florida Avenue from Stone Street to SR 520. Because of the traffic concerns associated with this location, the construction will be limited to one-lane at a time. The road will not be fully closed during this final phase of the operation to allow cars to pass. Flaggers will be positioned to safely direct traffic through the construction. The posted speed limit along Florida Avenue in the construction area is 15 m.p.h. Please be considerate of the speed limit for the safety of our construction crews.Thank you for your patience during this construction period. If you have any questions, please contact my office. Beginning Tuesday, May 30 at 7:00 pm, construction crews will be closing portions of Florida Avenue at the intersections of Rosa L. Jones Dr., Factory St., Orange St., Stone St. and Oleander St. to apply the decorative stamped crosswalks. Crews will have detour signs to direct vehicular traffic around the construction activity. The work is expected to continue each night after 7pm until Thursday, June 1. In addition, the new posted speed limit for Florida Avenue between SR 520 and the southern most city limit is now 25 MPH. The decreased speed limit is for the safety of our bicyclists who will be sharing the roadway with vehicles and for pedestrians crossing the street. Please slow down as you travel along Florida Avenue.
Florida Avenue is completely paved and the road is open to traffic. Contractors will be completing minor roadway improvements and some traffic delays may occur. Thank you for your continued patience during this project.
Beginning Monday night, May 15, the contractor will be paving Florida Avenue. Paving will begin at approximately 9:00pm on Monday night and continue Tuesday and Wednesday nights as necessary. Crews are paving at night to minimize traffic flow in the area. Once paving is complete, the final process is to install the decorative paved asphalt crosswalks and a few other minor finishing touches. We apologize for any inconveniences this project has caused, but we hope you will enjoy the new roadway.
Roadway construction continues along Florida Ave. Currently, the contractor is finishing up some lighting, landscaping and irrigation along the road. This should be complete next week. Then the week of May 15th, the contractor is scheduled to apply the final lift of asphalt which should then complete the project. The plan is to be complete on time, by the end of May barring any rain delays. Please stay tuned for any further updates on this project.
Construction crews will be paving Florida/Forrest Avenue between Stone Street and SR 520 on Thursday morning, April 27th beginning at approximately 7:00am. The road will be closed temporarily for approximately 2 hours to accommodate the paving process. In addition, all side streets connected to Florida Avenue in the project limits will be paved tomorrow. Rolling road blocks will occur as crews move from street to street to pave. Please observe the posted road detour signs to make your way around the construction activity. Thank you again for your patience during this construction period. The project is almost finished as we expect the final paving to occur during the week of May 15-19.
