Florida from spaceThe City of Cocoa Utilities’ Conservation/Public Relations Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing programs that encourage and help customers conserve water. Cocoa is dedicated to educating its water consumers about ways that they can conserve water, save money and reduce water pollution.

Using Water Wisely
Cocoa’s water conservation program encompasses all water sources in its conservation message: groundwater, surface water, potable (drinking water), stormwater and reclaimed water. The program uses educational, regulatory and financial incentives to encourage our water customers to use water resources more wisely.

Commercial customers, download a copy of our Commercial, Industrial, Institutional Water Saving Tips for ideas on how to save water and money indoors and outdoors.

You can begin your journey toward saving water and saving money by using the Water Conservation Checklist. Get the kids involved and turn it into a fun family project.

Inside. The Conservation/Public Relations Officer provides water-saving tips and conservation information via utility bill inserts, press releases, information packages, web pages and newspaper ads. Conservation items such as showerheads, shower timers, Ecokits (that contain toilet dye tablets and faucet aerators) are offered to Cocoa’s water customers year-round to help them reduce their indoor water usage. For customers with homes built before 1994, Cocoa offers a toilet rebate program for replacing 3.5 – 7 gallon-per-flush (GPF) toilets with 1.28 GPF or lower toilets.

Outside. Cocoa continuously reminds its customers about the current lawn watering restrictions. By collecting and storing rainwater, you can save money, improve the health of your plants, and protect the environment. Rain barrels provide homeowners with over 40 gallons of free water for their landscape each time it fills up. Cocoa offers a rebate program to its customers to help offset the cost of purchasing or making rain barrels. Cocoa also supports the Florida Friendly Landscaping initiative which guides consumers on how to use low-maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices. Learn how you can have a beautiful landscape that could save you time, energy and money while protecting our future.

Here For You. Cocoa’s Conservation/Public Relations Officer is here for you. Call or email if you need someone to make a presentation to a school, civic group or homeowner’s association. This is also your contact for arranging tours of Cocoa’s water and wastewater facilities. Call 321-433-8705 or send an email to take advantage of Cocoa’s conservation programs or to learn more about conservation opportunities in your home, yard or at your business.
